Programme

This year’s Museum Night at the Technical Museum in Brno will carry on in the spirit of the current exhibition dedicated to the Himalayas, travel and mountaineering. During the “Night of the Travellers” you will be able to taste culinary specialities, listen to the music performed by the multi-instrumentalist and singer Viktor Dyk, and participate in special programmes for children and adults. You will learn interesting facts from the world of mountaineering and travelling. You can engage yourself in the festivals of Diwali (lights). Children can attend art workshops and during the night we will announce the winners of the competition for the most interesting elephant which has been running throughout the duration of the exhibition. We will gather the largest herd of elephants! The night will culminate with an attempt to set a record by creating the longest string of Lung ta prayer flags. The event has been organised in collaboration with the exhibition partner LIVINGSTONE s.r.o.

This year the programme will be inaugurated by a benefit concert at 5 pm at Petrov. The performers are the Asheville Symphonic Choir (USA) accompanied by the Beethoven Academy Orchestra (Poland) with a guest performance by Viktor Dyk. The proceeds from voluntary entrance fees will be donated to a charity project in Nepal.

You will also have a chance to see the new permanent exhibitions opened in September last year: The exhibition of Computer Technology where you can play ‘ancient’ games from the 1980s. In the new Optics exhibition you will get an insight into the principles of electron microscopy presented by the FEI company. The history of this discipline feels at home here as it was in the present-day building of the museum (formerly the Tesla company) that the electron microscopes used to be made. In another new exhibition of Photography and Film you can immortalise yourself in a historic photographic studio from the turn of the 19th and the 20th century. In what is traditionally a most playful exhibition, comprising the technological playroom, we have prepared new experiments in physics for you which are bound to reformat the playroom. In addition, child visitors can look forward to a large exhibition dedicated to the legendary LEGO® construction toy.
